I suppose you may have got a name for this big guy by now. If not here it is: elm sawfly (Hymenoptera > Cimbicidae > Cimbex americana), This is a male, females look like a big bumblebee. Say hello to Bruce for me, met him a few years ago when he worked in Muskoka.
